Description

The Gatherer's Garden from Bioshock.

This was a fun project that I did for one of my favorite games.

First of all I take pride in the fact that this thing has as many little details as I could put in. the ridges in between the tiles to the individual letters of the sign. If there was a detail I could find, I did my best to put it in.

The whole figure is hand painted with acrylic paint and has three layers of satin glaze. The ADAM bottles, EVE syringe, first aid kit, and pipe are separate pieces that have been glued and glazed to the piece. They can come off if pushed or pulled too much, so be careful. Over the slots in the machine is a layer of plastic that acts as glass. The neon letters of the sign are made out of bent wire (Which I will add, was a pain). The neon letters were painted with a cool little neon pink paint I have that glows in black light. Figured that would be a neat little touch. The sculpture looks pretty sweet in black light, overall. The blood on the floor is part of a quote from Dr. Steinman. The full quote is “ADAM denies us any excuse for not being beautiful.”

The project in total took I guess around 40 or so hours to make which includes waiting for things like clay and paint to dry a bit in between.

Materials & Tools(In order, mostly.): Block of wood (3 1/2” X 3”), Giant Paper Clips(straightened for wire), Jumbo Craft Sticks (5.9” X 0.7”), Loctite Super Glue control gel, Lo Temp mini hot glue gun & glue sticks, white DAS Air-hardening modelling clay, hair dryer for drying clay quickly, Sculpting tools, tweezers, 1 1/2” circle clay cutter, Dremel 7300 & file accessories, a small metal file set, thin metal wire for the neon letters, a thin sheet of clear plastic for the windows, various paint brushes, Basics acrylic paint of various colors, pink fluorescent paint, Studio by Sculpey Satin Glaze.

The sculpture stands a little under 7" including the base. I'm not very good with estimating or guessing weight but I'd say it's under a pound. May seem a bit heavy at first considering it's small size but I've grown use to it's weight so I can't really tell.

Hope you guys like it.
